The article marks the centenary of the birth of the distinguished linguist and professor E. G. Kovalevskaya. It outlines key milestones of her life and scholarly path, emphasizing her contributions to the emergence of linguo-aesthetic text analysis as a scientific discipline. Kovalevskaya formulated the idea that an author’s worldview determines the selection and functioning of linguistic units in a literary text. She systematized the lexicon of the Russian national language based on its functions in literary discourse and described various types of occasionalisms in a literary text. The article examines the legacy of Kovalevskaya’s school of thought, tracing its influence on contemporary literary text analysis and highlighting modern approaches that build upon her research.
