Materials and Methods. The study employs cultural analysis and summarizes criteria for analyzing film in the educational process. The authors develop teaching techniques for using film pedagogy to build historical and cultural knowledge among primary school students through extracurricular education. The sources include theoretical works on pedagogy, cultural studies, and semiotics, alongside Russian regulatory documents in the field of education.
Results. The article summarizes research on the media representation of artistic images and the use of film pedagogy tools to develop historical and cultural knowledge. The findings show a need to foster a reflective attitude towards the studied content and develop criteria for interpreting artistic images.
Conclusions. The proposed film analysis criteria and the teaching techniques of film pedagogy can be applied in extracurricular arts education as part of theoretical historical and cultural training.
