Abstract

Introduction. The article substantiates the relevance of the problem of the imbalance between the high importance of educational work for the professional development of future speech therapists and the objective difficulties of its implementation at a university. The purpose of the study is to characterize the state and evaluate the educational work in the training of speech therapists from the perspective of teachers of specialized departments.

Materials and methods. The object of the study is educational work in the system of professional training of speech therapists. The empirical study was conducted using a structured questionnaire. The sample consisted of 50 teachers from 12 Russian universities who implement bachelor’s degree programs in the field of Speech Therapy. The data was processed using qualitative, quantitative and content analysis methods.

Results. It is revealed that educational work is carried out mainly in traditional forms and methods, whereas interactive, game and volunteer forms and methods are used less frequently. The key criteria for the effectiveness of educational work for teachers are the involvement of students and their personal changes. Most teachers seamlessly integrate educational components into their subjects, but extracurricular activities suffer from systemic coordination issues. Teachers cite time constraints and a large amount of reporting documentation as the main limitations in implementing educational activities.

Conclusion. Despite the identified organizational, managerial, and resource shortages, educational work is perceived by teachers as a meaningful component of the training of speech therapists. The prospects for research are related to the development of methodological recommendations for optimizing the content, organizational and methodological support, and evaluation of the effectiveness of educational work in the system of training speech therapists.
